Boundary Survey

Boundary surveys establish the boundaries of a parcel using the legal description, land record research, and field surveys.

The initial phase consists of lands record research to local deeds, plans, maps, wills, and other documents containing information on the location and rights associated with a parcel of land. The next phase involves a field reconnaissance to locate any boundary evidence, such as iron pipes or rods, monuments, walls, fences, etc. The final phase is a field survey to find and mark the boundary lines.

The surveyor will compare the research and field work and reach a final determination about the boundaries. The surveyor will draft a plan, prepare a legal description, write a report, and set the new monuments on the property.
